sototallymonica asked:

I’m looking to just be healthy, inside and out. Yes, I’d like to lose some weight and some inches, but my long term goals are just being healthy and taking care of my body.
How much should I work out and what should I eat? I have cut out processed foods but was wondering ifthere’s’s anything specific that I should be eating?

Thanks in advance :)

Cut out all soda or energy drinks and drink water. Then start exercising an hour 3-5 times a week. You have to burn calories though if you want to lose weight and to do that, you need to do cardio. Also try pilates and yoga, it really worked for me. If there is an LA Fitness or another gym in the area, that offers classes, get a membership there. It’s much cheaper than going to a yoga studio. Plus, going to a class once a day forces you to work out. It’s kind of like having a trainer!

cardio three or more times a week, at least 30 minutes each time.

some type of strength training 2-3 times a week. this could involve lifting weights, taking a yoga class or simply doing some crunches, squats, and lunges.

as for the food, its great that you have cut out processed foods, and other than that there’s nothing that you really need to be eating. just make sure that with all the exercise you are getting enough calories!!

good luck! it sounds like you are on your way!

just regular physical activity. half an hour 4 times a week is good to stay healthy and in the long term lose some weight. also try and do more incidental physical activity. so take the stairs instead of the elevator. walk to the shops rather than driving. it ll adds up and walking is excellent exercise for the whole body

eater fresh fruit and veges with lean meat aswell as fish is fantastic. cutting out processed foods is the way to go. id reccommend buying some good cook books, go invest in some because there are so many different ways of using healthy ingredients and making them exciting. you’ll love eating healthy food and you’ll keep eating the same way for a long time and not get bored.

as i said fruit and veges are the best, protein and the general healthy things that everyone tells you to eat

hope it all goes well! im so glad to finally read a question where someone wants to get healthy in the long term and not just lose half their body weight in a week. good on you.

Hey, i know weight training is a real good way to slim down and keep you healthy.

A site i frequent is Bodybuilding.com and it has everything you need to know and also has a forum with a lot of helpful people (as long as you stay away from the teen section).
you should check it out.

Hope this helps
